Dubai Healthcare City (DHCC), the enabling healthcare and wellness destination, recently held an awareness seminar in collaboration with the General Department for Anti-Narcotics represented by Hemaya International Centre of Dubai Police, highlighting the dangers of substance abuse. This event was conducted as a part of DHCC’s recently launched "Rehab and Wellness Season: Reshape your Life” initiative, which raises awareness on the prevalence of substance abuse and electronic device addiction.

The seminar saw representatives from General Department for Anti-Narcotics represented by Hemaya International Centre of Dubai Police showcasing samples of various addictive drugs, which served as an opportunity for healthcare professionals and employees of Dubai Healthcare City to gain a deeper understanding of the UAE Federal Law no (89) on ‘Combating Narcotics and Psychotropic Substances’, as well as the legal protections it offers to individuals seeking help from substance abuse and potential criminal charges. The law states that criminal charges will not be filed against addicted individuals who decide to turn themselves in to the police or public prosecution or are reported to the authorities by their spouse, second degree relatives or those responsible for their upbringing, or before an arrest warrant is issued. They request the addicted individuals to be admitted at the centre for treatment until they decide to release them.

Through the initiative and its activations, DHCC extends support to individuals seeking rehabilitation, aligning with the government's commitment to addressing these pressing issues and encouraging individuals to embark on a journey of improved well-being.
