The core function of DHCC’s HSE Department is to create and sustain the drive for business excellence and enhance the occupational health, safety and environmental management systems that have been developed for DHCC. The department focuses on:
Occupational Health and Safety
Monitoring occupational health and safety related issues through:
- Proactive hazards identification and follow-up
- Accident/incident reporting
- Emergency evacuation drills
- Monitoring of construction safety through contractor guidance and controls
- Risk assessment
Environment
DHCC is certified to ISO 14001:2004 international standard requirements for managing environmental performance. The department conducts regular environmental impact assessments covering all facilities within DHCC to ensure that the environment is protected. In addition, the department monitors waste generation and disposal, and it drives the Reduce, Reuse, Recycle campaign.
Pre and Post Operating Assessments
The department conducts assessments of all facilities operating within DHCC to ensure compliance with HSE’s regulations and guidelines. This assessment is part of a consolidated assessment conducted by different departments and focuses on the following:
- Fire protection
- Emergency response
- Site condition
- Incident reporting
- Pest control
- Waste management
- Environmental protection
- Storage of chemical and hazardous substances
