Marwan Abedin CEO, Dubai Healthcare City

Message from the CEO

Dear colleagues and business partners,

My previous sign off was about the main entrance of Dubai Healthcare City awash in blue in support of the autism awareness initiative  ‘Light It Up Blue’.

After that it has been back to green – literally and metaphorically. We haven’t slowed down.

Our momentum has been defined by exhibitions, conferences, signings and international road shows. On the agenda we had participation at Careers UAE, Arab Pediatric Medical Congress and Arabian Travel Market in Dubai as well as panel attendance at the US-Arab Healthcare Summit in New York City. We also welcomed 13 new business partners in Q2.

Of special mention is my experience at the Summit. It was a moment of pride when I presented DHCC - at a panel moderated by GE Healthcare - as a leading business model that cultivates innovation in healthcare.  Closer to home, we echoed the same message at the Health Innovation & Investment Dubai 2014 conference where I spoke of innovation as a core business competency in the health sector.

We were also proud to support the Dubai Holding Vertical Marathon, the first Dubai Desert Triathlon, and the Dubai Land Department’s annual charity campaign, 'Why Do You Keep It?'.

The month of June marks the first anniversary of the Mohammed Bin Rashid Academic Medical Center (MBR-AMC), DHCC’s dedicated academic complex, which is committed to strengthening the medical capacity pool in the region.

Speaking of milestones, we have rolled out our new Customer Relationship Management (CRM) system to streamline feedback as part of our efforts to increase customer centricity.

Ramadan Kareem!

Best regards,

Marwan Abedin
CEO, Dubai Healthcare City

Innovative dental surgery performed on 21-year-old with rare genetic disorder

The French Dental Clinic performed an innovative dental surgery on a 21-year-old, who suffers from a rare genetic disorder called Papillon-Lefèvre Syndrome (PLS). The disorder is characterized by severe inflammation and degeneration of the structures surrounding and supporting the teeth. The patient had lost all teeth at the age of 13.  Maxillo-Facial surgeons Dr. Jean Francois Tulasne and Dr. Ahmad Alzahaili used the ‘Parietal Bone Graft’ technique, which takes bone from a part of the skull and grafts it into the upper and lower jaws.
